Social networking isn’t just about sharing reels and photos anymore- it’s bigger than that. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg won’t stop at anything as he evolves the internet to bring the metaverse – and now NFTs to Instagram. The Meta-owned social networking platform will soon support Ethereum, Polygon, Solana and Flow blockchain networks.

It’s Gettin’ Hot For NFT In Here

“What we’re starting with this week is the ability for creators and people to share NFTs that they’ve made or that they’ve bought, either in feed or in stories or in messaging,”  Instagram leader Adam Mosseri said.

The NFT initiative will kick off with a limited number of people without charging them during the pilot launch. Users will have to add their crypto wallets such as Metamask, Trust Wallet and Rainbow with Coinbase, Dapper and Phantom soon to hit the ground.

Disclaimer alert! Users need to prove their NFT ownership before putting it up on the platform.

Flaunt It, If You Got It

NFT details are displayed in a similar way to tagged profiles and products and are named “digital collectables.” Clicking on the tag will display details like the name of the creator and owner.

It’s Raining $$$ For Creators

Twitter enabled NFT profile pictures for premium users earlier this year. Pretty much everything is into NFTs.

Well, Instagram and Twitter aren’t the only digital giants looking to embrace NFTs, as YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki suggested that the platform may embrace web3 technologies, including NFTs, as a means of helping YouTube creators make money.

Too long? Here’s a one-liner: Instagram to start testing NFTs like Ethereum, Solana, Polygon and Flow for select creators in the United States this week.
