We and the biz world can’t seem to get enough of the country’s largest private sector corp. The Reliance brand lives up to its motto of “Growth Life”- once again. After IPL broadcasting rights, this time, the Ambani-owned company is giving the glad eye to Italy’s Luxottica Group to open Ray-Ban branded stores in India.

What’s it going to look like?

Luxottica currently sells Ray-Ban products through hundreds of multi-brand outlets in India. “Reliance will open a chain of Ray-Ban standalone stores as well as opening shop-in-shops and counters in other department chains within the Reliance stable and outside of the group,” said a spokesperson aware of the matter.

The nitty-gritty of the deal is yet to be revealed.

Speaking of the larger plan – this March, Reliance Brands had acquired the India franchisee rights and the existing community of stores of Sunglass Hut – a US-based international retailer of sunglasses and sunglass accessories.

After acquiring this from DLF Brands, Reliance swayed over 80 outlets of Sunglass Hut, that housed top-end labels like Prada, Burberry, Versace, Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabbana and Oakley, among others.

In case you missed it – the high-end retailing arm of Reliance Brands has lately been snapping brands in droves. From innerwear to pharma, Reliance is betting big beyond territorial borders!

Too long? Here’s a one-liner: After Sunglass Hut, Reliance Brands is now looking to partner with Italy’s Luxottica Group to open Ray-Ban branded stores in India.
